Elbow Joint Replacement
The elbow joint is a hinge joint made of the upper arm bone (humerus) and the forearm bone (ulna). Painful arthritis is the main reason for requiring an elbow joint replacement.
The operation usually takes approximately 2 hours and you will usually be in hospital for 4–5 nights after your surgery.
You will need to do exercises given by the physiotherapist, both while you are in hospital and after you get home. It is important to realise that recovering from a joint replacement takes time and you may require assistance at home until your strength improves.
